From Frozen Ridges to Our First “I Do”: The Story of The Overlook

A couple celebrating beside the firepit at The Overlook.

It’s hard to believe that just over a year ago, “The Overlook” was mostly a collection of blueprints and a very stubborn patch of frozen Kentucky soil.

In Winter 2024, we started building. If you’ve ever tried to haul luxury dome materials up a ridgetop in the middle of a Red River Gorge winter, you know it’s less “glamour” and more “extra thermal layers.” It was cold, it was muddy, but we knew the view waiting at the top was going to be something special.

Fast forward to Spring 2025, and the mud finally gave way to wildflowers. We officially opened our doors and, on April 22, 2025, we welcomed our very first guest. We sought out to create a great escape to the outdoors that lets individuals and couples enjoy the beautiful view — and that’s exactly what the first guest told us.

July 2025

We celebrated our first proposal. (She said yes! The fire pit glow makes for a pretty great engagement ring light, just saying.)

September 2025

We hosted our first elopement. There is nothing quite like watching a couple exchange vows as the Gorge begins its transformation into those iconic autumn golds.

We also completed the communal firepit at what we call The Point in the fall.

We didn’t just build a retreat; we built a front-row seat to your best memories. Whether you’re here for a milestone like an anniversary or just a Tuesday escape, we’re so glad you’re part of our timeline.
